Have you been thinking about planning for your retirement, but the only course of action you’ve envisioned is seeing fewer clients over a period of time? There are very few guidelines on how to go about retiring from private practice. We have plenty of literature about how to practice during your career, and a fair amount about therapists dealing with illness or death, yet almost none about how to retire from clinical work.   Please join us for a panel discussion with special guests Lise Motherwell, Joel Frost and Marianne Zasa. All three of our panelists have retired from clinical work with thoughtfulness, grace, and considerable consideration to the clinical implications of closing their practices.

This event is for you if you are thinking about retiring in the next five years, or even thinking about thinking about retiring. This event may also be useful for clinicians who are moving out of state or closing their practice for other reasons.

Some of the topics covered will include:

~ Legal and Ethical issues

~ Clinical implications for individual patients and groups

~ Transferring patients/groups to new therapist/s

~ Psychological implications for the therapist

~ Common fears and misperceptions about retirement
