Principles of Group Psychotherapy

Does the thought of running a group intimidate you? Would you like to:

•    brush up on the basics?

•    deepen fundamentals?

•    build your confidence as a group leader?
•    connect with other students and experienced NSGP faculty?

We might have just what you need. Whether groups make you nervous, curious, excited or confused, the NSGP’s Principles of Group Psychotherapy Course can help sharpen your leadership skills and take your group to the next level!

This 6-module course, which meets the didactic requirements for CGP certification, will meet monthly on Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 1 PM from January through May. The course also provides an excellent opportunity to connect with others who are interested in (or maybe even have a passion for) group therapy.

Module topics and dates as follows:

January 20, 2017 - Orientation – Brookline, MA

January 21, 2017 - The Foundations of Group Therapy – Joseph Shay, PhD, CGP in Cambridge, MA

February 11, 2017 - Group Dynamics – Julie Anderson, PhD, CGP in Brookline, MA

April 1, 2017 - Thematic and Structured Groups - Ken Jaeger – location TBD

April 22, 2017 - Role of the Leader – Kurt White, LICSW, LADC, CGP; location TBD

May 6, 2017 – The Change Process in Groups – TBD

May 20, 2017 – Experiential Group (full day) – Scott Reinhardt, PhD, CGP in Newton, MA

Course tuition of $550 includes CEUs. Unfortunately CMEs are not available for physicians and nurses. Scholarships are available.
