The Impact of Trauma and Effective Group Interventions Presented by Janet Yassen, LICSW

This workshop will provide a theoretical overview of the impact of interpersonal traumatic events throughout the lifespan and over time. Trauma informed group models will be presented as an integral part of healing for individuals and communities. About the Presenter Janet Yassen, LICSW, has provided direct service, consultation, supervision and training nationally and internationally about the issues of violence for over 40 years. Janet is co-founder of the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center and Acute Crime Crisis Services Coordinator for the Victims of Violence Program at the Cambridge Hospital, faculty of the Harvard Medical School and an affiliate of the Center of the Mindfulness and Compassion. She is a per-diem Chaplain of the Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center. She is the author of “Preventing Secondary Traumatic Stress Disorder,” In C. Figley (Ed.), Compassion Fatigue: Coping with Secondary Traumatic Stress Disorder in those who Treat the Traumatized York, NY: Brunner/Mazel, 1995. Ms. Yassen is the recipient of awards for her career in Social Work.
