From Reaction to Regulation: A Psychoeducational Anger Management Discussion

Join us for the Breakfast Club event, where we will discuss the psychoeducational approach to anger management designed by Joe Pereira, LICSW, CAS. As the title states the discussion will go from reaction to regulation and we will also talk about these implications for groups. We will open the discussion after a demonstration of the key concepts underlying anger and ways to facilitate group engagement. The curriculum has been implemented by Joe with different populations over his 35 year career.

Joe Pereira, LICSW, CAS is a licensed clinical social worker and addictions specialist who has been practicing for over 35 years. He has worked in a variety of settings including corrections, the court system, residential programs, employee assistance programs (EAPs) and outpatient mental health clinics. Joe was a co-founder of Outlook Associates of New England, a practice started to assist persons with anger control problems. He is currently in private practice in Arlington, MA and Boston, MA offering individual and group therapy as well as training and consultation with a focus on anger management to adults and adolescents. Joe has given numerous trainings locally as well as nationally and internationally on the treatment of anger management problems as well as workplace conflict, chemical addictions and stress management. He was interviewed by The Wall Street Journal on the topic of working with people with anger control issues and has made an appearance on the Boston MA local news show “Chronicle” discussing the topic of road rage. He was also involved with the Massachusetts Medical Society on developing a program for disruptive physicians. Joe was a lecturer at the Boston University Graduate School of Social Work from 2013 to 2026.
Breakfast Club is a FREE in-person gathering at a member's home or office with breakfast and socialization followed by a presentation and a discussion by attendees. It's an informal way to connect with NSGP members and learn something new. Please consider coming and bringing a friend. They need not be an NSGP member (yet!) to attend.
