This workshop is meant to spark discussion about stereotyping as a bias in perception. As an attendee, you will be challenged to process how you see yourself, how others in the world see you, and how you want to be seen. You will reflect on the impact of others’ perceptions and misperceptions on you. You will explore how your misperceptions can impact others. You will brainstorm ways to use these insights to make changes in your practice to more fully see those in your life, personally and professionally. About the Presenter Robin Dean, PsyD, MSEd is a licensed psychologist practicing at SUNY Upstate Medical University in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic. She also has a background in Education with several years of experience in teaching, leading workshops, and facilitating groups. She specializes in issues of multiculturalism and diversity, which is reflected in the emphasis of her training and current clinical practice. Dr. Dean has created and implemented trainings on cultural issues in clinical practice that have been implemented with students, teams in community mental health settings, and practitioners at conferences. Participants have expressed that she has a style that creates a space where individuals feel challenged and also safe to explore complex issues related to culture and diversity.
